Barns Courtney

Born in 1990 in Aylesbury, United Kingdom, and having spent part of his childhood in Seattle, Barns Courtney first emerged as a member of the London band Dive Bella Dive in the early 2010s before refocusing on a solo project after that group's split. Rooted in alternative rock with strong blues and folk influences, he relies on a gritty voice, driving tempos and pop‑oriented structures, which has made his songs—most notably "Fire" and "Glitter & Gold"—popular choices for film, TV and video game soundtracks. The 2017 album The Attractions of Youth established his songwriting around straightforward choruses and prominent guitars, while 2019’s 404 amplifies the contrasts between electric tracks and more stripped‑down pieces. On stage he favors an energetic live approach, performing solo or with a band, and tours extensively across Europe and North America, maintaining a continuous link between his studio output and performance‑focused practice.
