Paula Tape

Born and raised in Santiago de Chile, Paula Tape first played drums in several indie bands — an experience that has left a lasting imprint on her relationship to rhythm and polyrhythmic structures. Now a DJ and producer, Paula Tape crafts a soundworld situated between house with synthetic textures, Balearic references, percussive grooves and club selections drawn from an underground repertoire. Both her sets and productions avoid overly fixed categories and progress through stylistic associations, with particular attention to melodic lines and the energy of the dancefloor. A first milestone in her discography came with the EP Agua Congas on SOBO, followed by releases on labels such as Permanent Vacation, Ransom Note, Planet Trip and Alzaya. In 2021 she also entered the Rhythm Section sphere with the track “Panamericana,” followed by the EP Astroturismo. Through production, remixes and appearances on international stages, Paula Tape continues a trajectory built on a flexible approach to electronic music, where the legacy of percussion remains central.
