Arms and Sleepers

Founded in Boston in 2006, Arms and Sleepers initially formed as a duo bringing together Mirza Ramic and Max Lewis, before becoming Ramic's solo project based in Berlin. Shaped by Ramic's background — born in Bosnia and Herzegovina and marked by a childhood in exile — Arms and Sleepers develops instrumental music at the intersection of trip-hop, downtempo, ambient, post-rock and electronics featuring subtle hip-hop rhythms. The project emerged on the late-2000s American indie scene with a format combining hazy textures, fragmented beats and slow melodies, then gradually broadened its palette toward more cinematic and occasionally jazz-leaning pieces. Notable entries in Arms and Sleepers' discography include Matador (2009), The Organ Hearts (2011), Swim Team (2012) and former kingdoms (2022). Over the years, Arms and Sleepers has moved between electronic, ambient and post-rock circles while maintaining a compositional approach centered on atmosphere, repetition and precise arrangements rather than on sheer effect.
