Natascha Rogers

Born in the Netherlands to a Dutch mother and a father of Native American origin, Natascha Rogers grew up between Breda, Belgium, California and Bordeaux, in a family environment marked by frequent moves and early piano practice. This initial training, nourished by both Chick Corea and Yann Tiersen, later expanded into percussion after she discovered her father’s congas — the starting point for an in‑depth exploration of Afro‑Atlantic rhythms. Natascha Rogers studied with Mandingue and Afro‑Cuban percussionists and developed a personal writing style where voice, piano and percussion intersect in a register that is at once folk, soul and jazz, enriched by African and Caribbean traditions. Based in France, she refined this musical language in Brittany with sound engineer Joachim Olaya, within an intimate creative framework that supported the emergence of her repertoire. Her album Onaida, released in 2024, extends this approach by combining intimate compositions, precise rhythmic work and acoustic textures, at the crossroads of song, jazz and Afro‑descendant musics.
