Siân Pottok

Born in West Palm Beach and raised between Belgium and New York, Siân Pottok develops a musical and writing voice nourished by Indian, Congolese, Belgian and Slovak origins, as well as American roots. Trained in Paris at the ATLA school and then at the Nadia-Lili Boulanger jazz conservatory in 2004, Siân Pottok began performing in Parisian jazz clubs before moving to New York in 2009, where she sang on stages in Brooklyn and Manhattan and crossed paths with artists such as Richard Bona, Mike Stern, Grégoire Maret and Clarence Penn. Her trajectory later shifted toward a more personal form at the crossroads of jazz, folk, African music and a pop sensibility with subtle electronic textures. Learning the cello with Vincent Segal and discovering the kamélé ngoni with Abou Diarra have been important in this evolution, giving Siân Pottok a more organic relationship to strings and rhythm. Stays in India in 2012 and in southern Africa in 2020 and 2022 as part of cultural projects also accompanied this path. In 2024, Siân Pottok participates in the New’Garo project, a tribute to Claude Nougaro presented notably at Jazz à Vienne, Les Suds in Arles and Jazz in Marciac.
