Oriane Lacaille

Between Réunion and the Alps, Oriane Lacaille’s path extends a family lineage shaped by music and Creoleness. Born in 1986 into a family from Réunion settled in mainland France, and daughter of accordionist René Lacaille, she grew up immersed in séga, maloya, dance‑band music, and jazz. On stage from an early age, she toured with her father as a teenager, making the island’s triple‑time rhythms her own while living in a “cold country.” Long sung exclusively in Creole, her music later embraced bilingual French–Creole writing, with lyrics that explore love, femininity, motherhood, migration, slavery, domestic violence, and a dreamlike vein. Over the years, she first formed the duo Titi Zaro with Coline Linder, then co‑founded Bonbon Vodou with Jerem Boucris, where chanson, Afro‑Caribbean influences, and Réunionese heritage converge. In her own compositions—often written on the ukulele or the takamba guitar—she crafts a supple vocal line that moves naturally between Creole and French, over acoustic arrangements close to folk and chanson. On stage, she presents this repertoire as a trio with Héloïse Divilly and Yann‑Lou Bertrand, a formation that foregrounds polyrhythms and voices.
