Bonbon Vodou
Behind Bonbon Vodou, JereM Boucris and Oriane Lacaille develop a repertoire located between mainland France and La Réunion, at the crossroads of francophone song, Creole music and an acoustic approach enriched by rhythms from the Caribbean, North Africa, West Africa and the Indian Ocean. The project brings together two careers already firmly established on the scene: Boucris, singer, guitarist, lyricist and composer, first carried the solo JereM chante dans la douche, co-created the object ciné-concert H2ommes in 2013, and launched Cordalinge in 2023; Lacaille, singer, percussionist, lyricist and composer, grew up in René Lacaille’s musical milieu, has played with him since her teens, and has also led her own projects, including Titi Zaro and work released under her own name. In Bonbon Vodou their voices, guitar, percussion and ukulele build a fluid, rhythmic music in which French and Creole respond to one another with simplicity. Bonbon Vodou thus extends trajectories open to the French and international scenes, in a compact form that highlights JereM Boucris’s songwriting and Oriane Lacaille’s Reunionese roots, which over the years have included collaborations with René Lacaille, Piers Faccini, Vincent Ségal and Brigitte Fontaine.
