Deki Alem
Based in Gothenburg, Sweden, Deki Alem brings together two brothers who are developing a project at the intersection of alternative rap, drum and bass and electronic music. The duo garnered attention in the early 2020s with a series of digital releases that blend rapped English flows, sung vocal lines and fast, bass-music–inspired rhythms over productions with dark, melodic textures. Deki Alem’s music draws as much from the energy of punk and rock as it does from contemporary hip‑hop, with particular attention paid to tempo shifts and dynamic ruptures within a single track. In the studio as on stage, the project operates as a complementary partnership between writing, performance and production, and is part of a network of European venues and festivals oriented towards hybrid aesthetics that mix rap, club and alternative cultures.
