Monster Florence

In the town of Colchester in eastern England, Monster Florence brings together three rappers — Dream Mclean, Alex Osiris and Wallace — with musicians and producers Tom Donovan, Jonny Poole and Cameron Morrell in a hybrid formation halfway between a rock band and a hip‑hop collective. Since the mid‑2010s, Monster Florence has developed a dark, cinematic brand of British rap, nourished by grime, alternative rock and electronic textures, while leaving ample space for arrangements played live. Early singles and EPs led to a first full‑length album, Foul, released in 2018, which established a dense aesthetic of heavy rhythms, prominent bass lines and repetitive melodic motifs. With Master System in 2020, Monster Florence pushed further the contrasts between rapped sections, sung choruses and instrumental passages, accentuating psychedelic influences and electronic atmospheres. On stage, Monster Florence emphasizes the interaction between the three voices and the ensemble’s work, which allows them to move between rap circuits, rock venues and generalist festivals within the British scene.
