Holywatr

A project blending nu metal, emo and hardcore, Holywatr is part of the new wave of alternative rock and metal in the 2020s, whose development is driven first by streaming platforms and social media rather than by a clearly defined local grounding. Holywatr shapes a rough yet melodic sound marked by massive guitars, heavy rhythms and vocals that alternate between introspective passages and more tense sections, in an aesthetic close to certain alternative rock and metal bands of the 1990s and 2000s, notably Deftones. The singles “Without U”, “Loose Ends”, “Fade” and “Nail Polish” are the most visible markers of this trajectory, asserting a songwriting focused on themes of vulnerability, relationships and inner tensions, with an emphasis on contrasts between restrained verses and saturated choruses. Drawing on contemporary emo culture and a strong online presence, Holywatr is gradually developing a coherent identity at the intersection of nu metal, emo and hardcore, and positions itself within a heavy scene where the boundaries between alternative rock, metal and internet culture tend to blur.
