Gabriel Saglio

A French singer who spent many years with the group Les Vieilles Pies, Gabriel Saglio later developed a project under his own name, still surrounded by musicians and rooted in a dialogue between chanson and world music. Saglio’s career is marked by songwriting in French and by a sustained attention to musical exchanges between Europe and Africa. After exploring a repertoire nourished by encounters with Mandingue Africa, he has also steered his work toward the music of Lusophone regions, bringing through colours from Cape Verde, Angola and Guinea‑Bissau. His deep, flexible voice sits within arrangements where lilting rhythms, song melodies and acoustic or electric textures intersect without tipping into showy fusion.
