Andrew Bayer

Born in Washington, D.C., Andrew Bayer began classical piano training at an early age before studying musical synthesis at the Berklee College of Music. Active since the 2000s, he first drew attention in the duo Signalrunners with Scottish producer Alan Nimmo, a project tied to the melodic trance scene of Anjunabeats. As a solo artist, Bayer then established himself in a broad electronic spectrum where trance, progressive house, ambient and slower downtempo formats intersect, with a marked taste for detailed arrangements and structures that borrow as much from club culture as from pop songwriting and cinematic writing. His discography reflects this evolution with It’s Artificial (2011), a deliberately hybrid album, followed by If It Were You, We’d Never Leave (2013), more introspective and close to trip-hop, indietronica and slow electronic. After the Do Androids Dream and Anamnesis EPs in 2015, Bayer continues this exploration between rhythmic efficiency and melodic writing on In My Last Life (2018) and Duality (2022). Close to the Anjuna universe, Bayer also collaborates with Above & Beyond, Arty, and Ilan Bluestone, while developing the Artificial project with Norin & Rad. His sets and productions circulate between EDM festivals, trance stages, and broader cross-genre contexts of electronic music.
