The Black Moods

Formed in Tempe, Arizona, The Black Moods bring together Josh Kennedy on vocals and guitar, Brenden McBride on bass, and Chico Diaz on drums. The trio operates within a straightforward American rock sound, fueled by classic hard rock, blues rock, and southern accents, with tracks built around tight riffs, melodic choruses, and a highly charged live energy. Active since 2012, The Black Moods first released a self-titled album that year, followed by Medicine in 2016, Sunshine in 2020, and Into the Night in 2022. The band's trajectory unfolds on the US club and venue rock circuit, with regular touring and multiple appearances on national radio shows such as The Bob and Tom Show. Before The Black Moods, Josh Kennedy and Chico Diaz played together in Chalmers Green, which illuminates the cohesion of a band centered on a tight, efficient formula. In recordings as in live performances, The Black Moods favors a frontal, readable sound anchored in the rock tradition, without straying from accessible songwriting.
