Royal Tusk

Active on Edmonton’s rock scene in Alberta, Royal Tusk formed in the early 2010s around singer-guitarist Daniel Carriere, formerly of Ten Second Epic, with the aim of pushing a heavier, more direct brand of rock. The band developed a sound that sits between contemporary hard rock, grunge heritage, and blues inflections, built on massive riffs, a driving rhythm section, and melodic vocal lines. Their first recorded milestone came with the Mountain EP in 2014, which put Royal Tusk on the Canadian rock map, followed by the 2016 album DealBreaker, where the band refined a palette oscillating between alternative rock and catchier choruses. With Tusk II in 2018, Royal Tusk leaned into the heavier side of their writing, incorporating darker atmospheres and heavier tempos, while 2024’s Altruistic continued in that direction, often focusing on themes of disenchantment, everyday tensions, and perseverance. On stage, Royal Tusk moves between clubs and festivals across North America, stacking support tours with other rock and metal acts, gradually embedding the band within a circuit where modern hard rock and alternative music intersect.
