Busta Flex
Active on the Seine‑Saint‑Denis rap scene since the mid‑1990s, Busta Flex, born Valéry Franck Boulet, first made his mark through freestyles on Parisian radio and on DJ Cut Killer’s mixtapes, before aligning with Kool Shen and the IV My People collective associated with Suprême NTM. Born in Épinay‑sur‑Seine, he developed a French‑language rap rooted in boom‑bap, driven by a strong sense of rhyme, fast delivery and a taste for freestyle and egotrip, over productions influenced by New York hip‑hop. His self‑titled debut album, Busta Flex, was released in 1998 and established his style with tracks built around tight rhymes and straightforward hooks; in 2000, Sexe, violence, rap et flooze extended that aesthetic while opening more to urban‑life themes. Involved in numerous collective projects tied to the IV My People crew and the Paris rap scene, Busta Flex went on to multiply collaborations, features and compilation appearances, maintaining over the years a stage and studio career focused on classic, technical hip‑hop and vocal performance.
