ORB

Originating from the Geelong scene in the state of Victoria, ORB emerged in the mid-2010s as an Australian trio at the crossroads of heavy psych, doom metal, stoner rock and a 1970s-influenced progressive rock. ORB is part of the garage and psychedelic network linking Geelong and Melbourne, with music built on massive riffs, often slow tempos, hypnotic repetitions and spacey atmospheres that draw as much from hard rock as from space rock and krautrock. After its early singles, ORB released the album Birth in 2017, then The Space Between in 2018 and Naturality in 2021. From record to record, ORB has evolved its songwriting while retaining a heavy, direct foundation, opening its tracks to more extended structures, psychedelic textures and a clearer melodic sense. ORB thus occupies a distinctive place in the Australian resurgence of heavy, psychedelic music over the past decade.
