Liam Bailey

Fueled by soul, reggae, blues and a restrained rock, Liam Bailey hails from Nottingham, England, where he developed a direct songwriting approach and a grainy, husky voice often set against spare arrangements or more pronounced rhythms. He emerged in the early 2010s with two EPs released in 2010 on Lioness Records, Amy Winehouse’s label, and since then has moved between acoustic formats, contemporary soul production and collaborations tied to the UK’s bass scenes. His path has crossed with Chase & Status on “Blind Faith” and “Big Man”, Shy FX on “Soon Come”, as well as Delilah, DJ Fresh and, later, Joe Armon-Jones, while remaining within a repertoire centered on songcraft and performance. After his debut album Definitely Now (2014), Bailey refined an aesthetic that blends lo-fi soul, Jamaican inflections, folk-rock and melancholic melodies. That direction continued with Ekundayo in 2020, recorded with Leon Michels, then Enfant Terrible in 2023 with St Francis Hotel, and Zero Grace in 2024, again with Leon Michels and the collective El Michels Affair. Between solo projects and features, Liam Bailey remains committed to organic, introspective music rooted in British soul and reggae traditions.
