Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers
Formed in Canberra in 2015, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers brings together Anna Ryan, Scarlett McKahey, Neve van Boxsel and Jaida Stephenson around a taut rock that blends punk, riot grrrl, indie rock and post-grunge, with upfront guitars, dry drumwork and lyrics tied to everyday experience, social relations and women’s place. First noticed on the Australian scene via Triple J Unearthed in 2019 with "I Like That You Like That", Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers then played festivals and honed a sound rooted in 1990s rock without lapsing into pastiche. After signing to Domestic La La in 2021, the band released the EP Pretty Good for a Girl Band in 2022 and their debut album I Love You in 2023, followed by I Love You Too in 2024. Highlights of this period also include "Miss Your Birthday", co-written with Alex Lahey, and opening slots for Foo Fighters in Australia and later for Pearl Jam in the United States in 2025. Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers continued this trajectory with Glory, released in 2025, on which the quartet retains a direct, abrasive writing style while slightly broadening its melodic palette.
