Nina June

Based in Amsterdam, Dutch singer‑songwriter Nina June develops a repertoire at the intersection of indie pop, atmospheric folk and so‑called cinematic songwriting. Emerging on the scene during the 2010s, she initially released her songs online before shaping her work around a visual and sonic universe focused on travel, intimacy and memory. The album Bon Voyage (2018) marked a first major milestone, with tracks where a hushed voice, strings, piano and subtle rhythms build a contemplative atmosphere. With Meet Me on the Edge of Our Ruin (2021) Nina June pushed this approach further, incorporating tones close to chamber pop and dream pop; the lyrics, still written in English, explore human relationships, distance and emotional fragility. In studio and on stage she favors spare but detailed arrangements, alternating guitar‑ or piano‑led songs with more orchestral pieces sometimes approaching film‑score territory. Active on many Dutch and European stages, Nina June frames her work in an intimate, narrative register where the voice remains at the centre of a deliberately cinematic sound.
