Ekaterina Shelehova
Born in Kaliningrad, Russia, in 1995, Ekaterina Shelehova grows up in a musical environment before moving to Canada with her family in 2002, and then continuing her studies between Toronto and Milan. Her trajectory fuses opera singing, neoclassical music, and more contemporary vocal forms, with a voice trained for opera but also used in ambient, new age, and folk repertoires. Trained notably at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto and later at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan, Ekaterina Shelehova develops a practice that moves between the lyric stage and digital dissemination. On the opera side, she has performed several roles in Italy, including Gilda in Rigoletto at the Teatro Alessandrino in 2023, and she also participated in a China tour with the iSing Opera Academy in 2019. Her name began to circulate more widely after her appearance on Italia’s Got Talent in 2021, where her interpretation blending classical technique with a more atmospheric approach attracted an international audience. In parallel, Ekaterina Shelehova releases her own recordings and participates in the Era project, in a register that combines aerial singing, orchestral textures, and meditative influences. Her discography includes the Moonlight album, released in 2014 under the name Katya.
