Info
Marillion bring their long-running lineup of Steve Hogarth, Steve Rothery, Mark Kelly, Pete Trewavas and Ian Mosley to York Barbican in York on 15 September 2026. Formed in late-70s Aylesbury, the band first emerged in the early 80s with Fish and albums like Script for a Jester’s Tear, Fugazi and Misplaced Childhood, blending the legacy of British progressive rock with a more direct songwriting approach. With Hogarth’s arrival in 1989, a new chapter took shape on Seasons End and Brave, marked by introspective lyrics, atmospheric pop textures and narrative pieces that stretch over longer forms.
Since the late 90s, Marillion have built a close community around early experiments in fan funding, a model that supported studio work and touring while keeping creative control within the group. Records such as Marbles, F E A R and An Hour Before It’s Dark extend that path, mixing expansive arrangements with subtle electronic and ambient shades. Live, this material sits alongside the band’s early songs, carried by Rothery’s melodic guitar lines, Kelly’s spacious keys and a rhythm section that gives the music both pulse and lightness.
