Now Wave presents Chanel Beads, Shane Lavers' New York project, in concert on 5 November 2026 at Gorilla, Manchester. At the crossroads of lo-fi dream pop and hypnagogic pop with blurred edges, Chanel Beads advances with songs that play on the fragility of melodies, with vocals often pushed to the back and arrangements that feel veiled, between sound collages and deformed pop.
After the EP Zut Alors (2018), the project refined its language across a succession of singles (Strobe Light Two / Layup, Let's Go Out Tonight, Ef / Shining Armor, True Altruism / Ache), before expanding it into the album Your Day Will Come (2024), notably featuring contributions from Police Scanner, Idea June, and Embarrassed Dog. On stage, one can expect this blend of intimacy and abstraction, where the songwriting brushes up against ambient textures and a deliberately hazy aesthetic, with regular collaborations around Colle (Maya McGrory) in the background.
