Cæcilie Norby

Cæcilie Norby & Lars Danielsson – The Dream Team: 30 years of musical partnership. A unique collaboration and a new album on the way.

For 30 years, Cæcilie Norby and Swedish Lars Danielsson have developed a distinctive musical partnership. A collaboration characterized by intuition, presence, and mutual trust that makes them on stage seem almost to play as one. They have been called “The Dream Team of Jazz.” For, although there are only two of them on stage, they create a sound that feels bigger than the duo format.

Cæcilie Norby’s expressive and virtuosic vocals meet Lars Danielsson’s lyrical and personal playing on bass and cello as they move together effortlessly across jazz, pop, folk, blues, classical music, and improvisation. It’s about listening, reacting, challenging, and surprising. Neither of them wishes to repeat themselves or perform the same concert twice. As Cæcilie Norby herself describes their musical chemistry: “We listen, adapt, feel – we lean into each other, step back, exaggerate, understate – and listen again.”

In February 2027, the duo will release a new album on the European jazz label ACT Music. The album follows Just The Two Of Us from 2015 and includes both original compositions and new interpretations of songs by, among others, Bob Dylan, Michael Jackson, Maurice Ravel, Paul McCartney, Joni Mitchell, and David Bowie. Together Norby and Danielsson have recorded almost 12 albums and performed hundreds of concerts worldwide.

Since the 1990s, Cæcilie Norby has been a prominent figure on the Danish and international jazz scene and was the first Scandinavian artist signed to Blue Note Records. Lars Danielsson has earned international recognition for decades as a bassist, cellist, composer, and producer, and is today regarded among Europe’s leading jazz musicians.

Now you can experience them up close when The Dream Team takes the stage in Riga on Saturday, March 6, 2027 at 8:00 PM.
