Sinne Eeg
Active on the Danish and international jazz scenes, Sinne Eeg has, since the early 2000s, built a career centered on singing and songwriting at the intersection of swing and a Nordic sensibility. Born in Lemvig, Denmark, in 1977 and based in Copenhagen, she trained at the Aarhus Conservatory of Rhythmic Music before attracting attention in Scandinavian clubs and festivals. Her debut album, simply titled “Sinne Eeg” (2003), was followed by “Waiting for Dawn” (2007) and “Remembering You” (2008), which established a repertoire combining standards and original compositions. With “Don’t Be So Blue” (2010), “The Beauty of Sadness” (2011) and “Face the Music” (2014), Sinne Eeg refined a modern vocal-jazz style characterized by highly articulated phrasing, frequent use of scat and ballads with harmonies close to bop and cool jazz. The duo with double bassist Thomas Fonnesbæk on “Eeg-Fonnesbæk” (2015), the album “Dreams” (2017) and the collaboration with the Danish Radio Big Band on “We’ve Just Begun” (2019) testify to a constant movement between intimate line-ups and large ensembles, which Sinne Eeg continues to explore on tours in Europe, the United States and Asia.
