Simply Red will perform in Aurich on July 2, 2027, as part of their tour 'Summer Funk’27' at the multipurpose site in Tannenhausen, bringing exactly the mix the band has carried since the eighties: soul-pop with a soft rock edge, sometimes a hint of funk, always centered around the instantly recognizable voice of Mick Hucknall. In live performances, the interplay between elegant arrangements and direct melody takes center stage—songs that rely not on effects but on groove and timing. Those who know Simply Red know how naturally their own material and classics sit side by side here: early pieces from the Picture Book era, the great ballad moments, as well as the later, smoother pop-soul phases from the albums Men and Women, A New Flame or Stars. The nineties, with their more danceable textures, and the newer band phase since the 2015 restart flow into a set that is more about flow than a retrospective—from 'Holding Back the Years' to material from Time (2023).
