On 25 November 2026, Vieux Farka Touré lands at the 100 Club in London with a set built around that meeting point where Sahel traditions, desert blues and rock grooves lock into the same pulse. Raised in Niafunké in northern Mali, he plays guitar in tight, repeating motifs that gradually open into improvisation, with melodic lines rooted in Songhai heritage and a rhythm section feel that can swing from afro-pop drive to hypnotic trance.
Over the years he’s expanded his sound from early statements like his 2006 debut through albums such as Fondo and The Secret, and more acoustic, voice-and-guitar conversations on projects like Touristes with Julia Easterlin. He’s also developed a strong collaborative streak, from Toumani Diabaté to the Texas band Khruangbin, while still circling back to Malian structures on Les Racines. Expect a live show that moves between electric lift and stripped-back intensity, with songs delivered in Malian languages and French, always led by that sharp, singing guitar tone.
