On Saturday 24 October 2026, My New Band Believe lands at Cabaret Voltaire in Edinburgh with Cameron Picton at the center. Known as the former bassist and occasional singer in black midi, Picton comes back with a project that keeps his taste for unstable structures, but shifts the focus: more acoustic, more song-driven, and built around his guitar rather than full-band abrasion. It’s not a classic “solo” move either. My New Band Believe works like an open ensemble, changing shape from track to track and onstage, with arrangements that assemble, unravel, then snap into a new direction.
For this Edinburgh show, the cast is part of the story: several members of caroline are involved, with Mike O’Malley and Jasper Llewellyn credited as co-producers, and writing contributions from Georgia Ellery (Jockstrap, BC;NR) and Kiran Leonard. On the player side, names in the mix include Caius Williams, Nina Lim, Charlie Wayne and Josh Finerty, plus a guest appearance from Jack Shep. Expect chamber-rock detail, baroque-pop touches and experimental songwriting, stitched together with that familiar Picton logic: tension, release, and sudden left turns.
