honestav, whose real name is Avrey Freeman, belongs to a generation that blurs the lines between indie rock, alternative and hip-hop. Hailing from Missouri, he builds his tracks on melancholic guitars and a very direct writing style, where singing and melodic rap respond to one another without forcing it.
Active since adolescence, he first made a name for himself by posting his tracks online before gaining momentum in the early 2020s. In 2024, “I’d Rather Overdose” received widespread airplay and marked a real turning point, in the wake of a tour opening for Mod Sun and lovelytheband. His EP hara-kiri (and its Deluxe version) lays the groundwork for his raw pop-rock universe, between confession and catchy choruses.
