If you're here for dry guitars, a driving rhythm, and hooks that grab without beating around the bush, We Are Scientists check all the boxes. Born in Berkeley before settling in New York, the duo Keith Murray and Chris Cain have carved out a place with nervy indie rock, somewhere between post-punk revival and power pop, propelled by short tracks and a bass line that sits up front. Since With Love and Squalor (2005), the band has tightened its writing album after album, from Brain Thrust Mastery to Barbara, then moving toward pop formats without dropping the rock backbone: TV en Français, Helter Seltzer, Megaplex, Huffy, Lobes, up to Qualifying Miles. On September 30, 2026, at the O2 Academy Oxford, we find them doing what they do best: direct energy, clean melodies, and that blend of tension and efficiency that has become their signature.
