Info
Brighton trio Tigercub bring their tense, heavy-edged rock to The Grove in Newcastle upon Tyne on 23 October 2026. Formed in 2011 by Jamie Stephen Hall and James Allix, joined by Jimi Wheelwright, the band folds alternative and indie rock into grunge grit and a hint of sludge, playing on contrasts between pressure-driven rhythms, dense guitars and sudden melodic openings. Their path runs from early EPs Hands and Repressed Semantics to the taut writing of Abstract Figures in the Dark and the more elastic Evolve or Die, then to As Blue as Indigo, which digs into more introspective themes without dropping the heavy core. The Perfume of Decay (2023) tightens the line further with darker tones and direct structures. On stage, the trio leans into that balance of weight and clarity: riffs bite, the low end grinds, and Hall’s voice threads through the noise with clean, unfussy lines. A set shaped for listeners who like texture and tension as much as melody.
