Info

Ray LaMontagne brings the Trouble 20th Anniversary Tour to Symphony Hall, Birmingham, on 2 June 2026. Twenty years after his debut, he returns to the songs that first defined him: spare acoustic guitars, a grainy voice up close, melodies that take their time. Trouble set the tone for a folk rock and Americana path he has since widened in all directions — orchestral shadings on Till the Sun Turns Black and Gossip in the Grain, earthier textures with The Pariah Dogs, psych glimmers on Supernova, the drifting atmospheres of Ouroboros, and a later return to something more stripped-back on Part of the Light and Monovision. On stage, LaMontagne lets space breathe between phrases, shifting from near-silence to a fuller thrum, keeping the lyrics at the center: love undone, doubt, and the inner maps we carry. This anniversary show leans into that essential grain and the early songs that still anchor his catalogue.

Also on the bill: Natalie Jane Hill.
