Info
Puma Blue, the project of South London singer, songwriter and producer Jacob Allen, brings his nocturnal, slow-burning songs to The Deaf Institute, Manchester on 29 May 2026. First noticed with the EPs Swum Baby (2017) and Blood Loss (2018), he carved a dusky debut album with In Praise of Shadows (2021), later echoed in the live film A Late Night Special. Now based in Atlanta, he writes with space and restraint: falsetto vocals that hover, guitar lines that breathe, and arrangements that let silence set the pace. On stage with a close-knit band, the songs open up, leaning on improvisation to shift from tender murmurs to more charged turns without losing their core. After the collective, reflective Holy Waters (2023), orbiting themes of loss and renewal, he pared back with antichamber (2025), a minimalist set rooted in intimacy. The live show threads these phases, moving between dreamlike ballads and rawer passages, with quiet intensity, elastic dynamics, and phrasing that sometimes nods to Jeff Buckley while keeping a singular, close-to-the-night palette.
