Primus

Primus brings its off‑center, bass‑driven rock to O2 Academy Brixton in London on 19 August 2026. Formed in the San Francisco Bay Area, the trio forged a sound that slips between alternative metal, funk and progressive rock. At the core sits Les Claypool, whose elastic bass lines and deadpan vocals lead the charge, with Larry LaLonde’s guitar threading jagged riffs and warped melodies around tightly wound rhythms.

Their catalogue maps the evolution of that approach: the urgency of Frizzle Fry and Sailing the Seas of Cheese, the darker turns of Pork Soda, the expansive Tales from the Punchbowl, then later chapters like Green Naugahyde, the twisted reimagining Primus & the Chocolate Factory with the Fungi Ensemble, and The Desaturating Seven. The Conspiranoid EP kept the group’s taste for odd narratives and angular grooves intact.

Since 2025, drummer John Hoffman has rounded out the lineup alongside Claypool and LaLonde. On stage, Primus leans into asymmetrical grooves, long bass figures and left‑field storytelling, shifting from tight bursts to stretched‑out passages. A live set typically spans eras, folding early staples into newer material with the same skewed energy that defined the band from the start.
