Hoobastank

Formed in the mid-1990s in the suburbs of Los Angeles, Hoobastank brought together Doug Robb (vocals), Dan Estrin (guitar) and Chris Hesse (drums) around an alternative rock sound influenced by post-grunge and hard rock, initially flavored with funk and punk touches from the Californian scene. Hailing from Agoura Hills, the band made a local name for itself before releasing the independent album "Muffins" in 1997, then signing with Island Records and issuing "Hoobastank" in 2001, which established them on the international rock circuit. The second album, "The Reason" (2003), confirmed this exposure with a more melodic approach, while "Every Man for Himself" (2006) and "For(n)ever" (2009) continued in that vein with heavy guitars, catchy choruses and more restrained ballads. Hoobastank later explored a more pop-rock and adult-contemporary direction on "Is This the Day?" (2010), "Fight or Flight" (2012) and "Push Pull" (2018), while retaining an accessible rock core. Centered on Robb, Estrin and Hesse—later joined by bassist Jesse Charland—the band toured extensively across North America, Europe and Asia, securing a lasting place in the alternative rock landscape of the 2000s and 2010s.
