Nena

Nena will perform on 26 October 2026 at SPOT/De Oosterpoort, Groningen. Gabriele “Nena” Kerner broke through in the early 1980s with her band as part of the Neue Deutsche Welle; 99 Luftballons opened the door to an international audience, first in German and later as 99 Red Balloons. After the band years she moved toward pop rock and accessible pop with a lasting synth signature, documented on solo albums such as Wunder gescheh’n, Nena, Nena feat. Nena, Made in Germany and Oldschool. On stage she brings those threads together: early singles alongside later tracks and reworked versions from her 2002 project, performed with a full band. Expect tightly written songs, hooks that stick immediately and German-language lyrics front and center, with the occasional English-language detour. A set that lets you hear her journey from band frontwoman to solo artist in real time, with the energy of the past and the sound of the present.
