On April 9, 2026, at Estraperlo (Badalona), Hempress Sativa returns to the Barcelona area for the first time since 2021. Born in Kingston, the Jamaican singer-songwriter brings a live set that crosses roots reggae, dancehall and dub, with touches of hip hop, soul and jazz. On stage she alternates singing, toasting and spoken-word delivery, and writes lyrics that look to the Rastafari tradition, social commentary and intimate themes. Since her album Unconquerable (2017), her repertoire has grown through singles and collaborations, and she finds in the sound system format a natural setting for interaction with the audience.
Alongside her, Paolo Baldini DubFiles, the project of the Italian bassist, producer and engineer, brings dub to the forefront. His hallmark: prominent basslines, deep rhythms and a use of space—delays and reverbs—that pushes each track toward live, real-time versions. Between roots, steppers and meditative atmospheres, Baldini shapes pulse and texture, dialoguing with Hempress’s voice to reimagine the tracks in dub form during the show.
