Joan as Police Woman

On 15 November 2026 at TRAIN in Aarhus, Joan as Police Woman — the solo project of New York-based singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Joan Wasser — brings a live show where soul, indie pop and subtle jazz shades meet careful songwriting. Classically trained on violin and first heard with the indie band The Dambuilders, she has built since Real Life (2006) a body of songs shaped by close‑mic vocals, lean arrangements and unhurried melodies. To Survive and The Deep Field opened the palette toward a fuller soul mood; The Classic and Damned Devotion balanced slow‑bloom ballads, R&B‑tinged grooves and more direct cuts. With Cover Two she pared other artists’ songs to the essentials, while The Solution Is Restless, created with Tony Allen and Dave Okumu, leaned into a looser, groove‑led conversation. On stage she moves between these contours, trading violin and keys, leaving space for rhythm and keeping the focus on the song. The set traces a line from her early records to her latest explorations.
