Drug Church

On 20 September 2026 Drug Church will play at EXIL in Zurich. Formed in the early 2010s in Albany, New York, the band around singer Patrick Kindlon moves between punk-hardcore, post-hardcore and alternative rock. Their trademark is a spoken-sung delivery with dry wit, dense guitars, heavy grooves and melodies that hit straight away. The lyrics revolve around everyday frustration, social tensions and the small frictions of living together.

With the debut Paul Walker (2013) and Hit Your Head (2015), Drug Church focused on edgy, compact songs, which they further sharpened with the EP Swell. The move to Pure Noise Records opened the sound to more melody without losing the core energy: Cheer (2018), the EP Tawny (2021) and Hygiene (2022) mark this line. Live the band concentrates this development into focused sets where hard edges and catchy hooks come together. An evening for anyone who wants to hear punk, emo and guitar rock from a contemporary perspective — close to the intersection of contemporary hardcore and classic rock.
