The Jacksons

On 25 May 2026 The Jacksons will play at SPOT/De Oosterpoort in Groningen. The family band from Gary, Indiana began as The Jackson 5 at Motown and later, as The Jacksons at CBS/Epic, moved toward more original material. Live, the group draws on that dual legacy: layered vocal harmonies, tight bass lines and a mix of soul, pop, R&B and disco‑funk. The repertoire spans from the Detroit years through the self‑written period around Destiny and Triumph.

On stage the band tackles the catalogue with medleys and full‑length versions, from Jackson 5 classics to The Jacksons tracks from the late 1970s and ’80s. Arrangements reference the originals without copying them: compact grooves, call‑and‑response with the audience, percussion breaks and choreography that accentuates the hooks. The set allows room for multi‑part harmonies, brief solo spots for vocals, guitar and keys, and longer instrumental passages that bring the Philly‑soul and funk roots to the fore.

After decades on North American and European stages, The Jacksons bring that live approach to Groningen: a set that traces the story of the Jackson family, from Motown to pop‑funk with their own distinctive stamp.
