Montreal’s The Franklin Electric brings its indie folk and alt-pop songwriting to Lee’s Palace in Toronto on April 22, 2026. Led by singer and songwriter Jon Matte, the project has grown from intimate, piano-led pieces into a flexible ensemble that shifts on stage, keeping a balance between acoustic instruments and light electronic touches. The early albums This Is How I Let You Down (2014) and Blue Ceilings (2017) sketched the blueprint: folk structures, piano lines and discreet brass anchored to clear melodies. Since then, singles and EPs have leaned into more atmospheric and rhythmic arrangements without losing the close-up feel of Matte’s voice and lyrics. Live, the group moves easily from sparse ballads to wider, pulsing textures with a collective dynamic.
Joining for the night, singer-songwriter Jon Bryant adds a set centered on melody and storytelling, setting the tone before The Franklin Electric takes over.
