Info

Cheikh Lô will perform on June 26, 2026 at Le Point Fort d’Aubervilliers. Born between Bobo-Dioulasso and Dakar and a member of the Baye Fall movement, he advances with music permeable to African and Caribbean circulations. With a clear, supple voice, sometimes broken, he moves from an almost whispered phrasing to a surge on the bass line, with Afrobeat accents inherited notably from his work with Tony Allen. One also hears Tabu Ley’s Congolese rumba, Cuban song, Burkinabè rhythms and reggae shades, without allowing himself to be boxed into a single label.

Forty years of music come together here in a live format where guitars, percussion and choirs interlock between mbalax, soukous and makossa. Recent songs intersect with older pieces, arranged with restraint, carried by a discreet spirituality and a sense of groove that prioritizes pulse and collective movement. Cheikh Lô unfolds his graceful singing, his fine guitar lines and a songwriting that maintains the balance between Senegalese tradition and Afro‑Caribbean popular forms, accompanied by his band for a performance focused on the essentials: voice, rhythm and dance.
