Jade Bird

Born in Hexham, Northumberland, and partly educated in Croydon at the BRIT School, Jade Bird rose to prominence from the mid-2010s with songs crossing Americana, folk, indie rock, and alternative country. Her writing, carried by a raw and direct voice, blends folk formats, sharper guitars, and choruses close to British indie rock. After her first EP Something American (2017), Jade Bird began to circulate on UK and US stages, notably at SXSW, and as a support act for artists such as First Aid Kit, Son Little, London Grammar and Hozier. Her debut album Jade Bird, released in 2019, established a balance between folk rock, punchy pop, and acoustic songwriting. She followed with Different Kinds of Light in 2021, an album that further broadened her spectrum toward more expansive writing, between introspection, melodic rock, and pop textures. In 2024, Jade Bird released the EP Burn the Hard Drive, marked by a more direct approach, then announced Who Wants to Talk About Love? for 2025. Having spent time in the United States after growing up between England, Germany, and Wales, Jade Bird has built a transatlantic career where folk tradition, alternative sensibility, and live culture intersect.
