Sub Urban

Born in Nyack, New York, and raised in Ridgewood, New Jersey, Daniel Virgil Maisonneuve, known as Sub Urban, creates alternative pop dominated by electronic elements, marked by dark pop influences, melodic choruses and deliberately unsettling atmospheres. A songwriter, singer and producer, Sub Urban began releasing music as a teenager and his project gained new momentum in 2019 with “Cradles,” a track widely shared online, followed by the EP Thrill Seeker in 2020. His writing relies on sharp contrasts between a composed vocal delivery, dry rhythms, synth textures and arrangements that can suggest electro-pop, hip‑hop or a more theatrical pop. After his adolescence he settled in California and continued this work through a series of singles and collaborations, including with REI AMI, Bella Poarch and BENEE. In this trajectory, Sub Urban is part of a contemporary alternative pop scene in which studio production, visual identity and the digital circulation of tracks occupy a central place.
