Greyhounds

Based in Austin, Texas, the duo Greyhounds unites keyboardist and vocalist Anthony Farrell with guitarist and vocalist Andrew Trube in a blend of soul, rhythm and blues, funk and Southern rock tinged with blues. Active since the late 1990s, Greyhounds gradually made a name for themselves on the Texas independent scene—playing local clubs and touring—developing a songwriting approach centered on slow grooves, tight vocal harmonies and lyrics that move between social observation and introspection. After several self-released records in the early 2000s, the band took a step forward with Accumulator in 2014, followed by Change of Pace (2016) and Cheyenne Valley Drive (2018), which confirmed Greyhounds’ place in a modern soul rooted in vintage influences. Primates (2020) continued that trajectory with a stronger emphasis on psychedelic atmospheres and mid-tempos. Alongside their own work, the members have engaged in numerous collaborations—most notably with JJ Grey & Mofro—reinforcing the duo’s ties to the American roots-music network and shaping an instantly recognizable sound driven by the interplay between guitar and keyboards.
