Jesse Roper

Guitarist and songwriter Jesse Roper, based near Victoria, British Columbia, works within a blues-rock tradition deeply shaped by 1970s rock and North American roots music. Roper emerged on the Canadian scene in the early 2010s, first through regular gigs on Vancouver Island, then by gradually expanding to national tours and numerous festivals. His writing blends blues guitar riffs, driving rock rhythms, and touches of folk and soul, with particular attention to vocal melodies and live energy. The albums The Fortunes (2015) and Access to Infinity (2018) capture this approach in the studio, alternating brisk electric tracks with slower songs centered on voice and guitar. Over the years, Roper has developed a stage-oriented repertoire, often extended by longer, improvised versions in concert. His work thus sits at the intersection of blues, rock, and folk songwriting, while remaining rooted in Canada’s independent music context.
