Jacquees

Born in Georgia and associated with the Atlanta scene, Jacquees, real name Rodriquez Jacquees Broadnax, since the early 2010s has developed a register situated between contemporary R&B and hip-hop, with a smooth singing voice, very present melodies and writing focused on love relationships. After self-produced early projects like I Am Jacquees in 2011, followed by the mixtapes Round of Applause, Fan Affiliated and Quemix, Jacquees gained more notice with the EP 19 in 2014 before signing that same year with Cash Money Records. His career then built between personal releases and collaborations, notably Lost At Sea with Birdman in 2016, as well as regular work with artists in the R&B and Southern rap spheres. The single B.E.D. in 2016 marked a turning point in his visibility, followed by At the Club with DeJ Loaf and You, which accompany the album 4275 in 2018. Jacquees continues with King of R&B in 2019, Christmas in Decatur the same year, then Sincerely For You in 2022 and Baby Making in 2024. In his tracks as in live performances, Jacquees remains attached to a form of direct and melodic R&B, nourished by Atlanta's aesthetics and by frequent use of mixtape and EP formats that have accompanied his evolution.
