Choses Sauvages
In Montréal, Choses Sauvages took shape in the mid-2010s around French-language songwriting that blends dance-punk, post-punk and new wave into a tight, highly rhythmic rock format. Led by Félix Bélisle, who is also active in La Sécurité, the band developed a dry, nervous aesthetic where driving basslines and synthesizers converse with angular guitars and a vocal delivery often close to declamation. After their debut album Choses Sauvages (2018), the group refined its approach on Choses Sauvages II (2021), emphasizing the danceable side while retaining a frontal attitude marked by punk, funk and club music. Choses Sauvages has built a strong live presence at home and abroad, with dates in France, Belgium, Spain, the UK, Germany and Mexico, and appearances at festivals such as Pitchfork Music Festival Paris, Printemps de Bourges, MaMA and Mad Cool. They also toured the United States as the support for The Bright Light Social Hour. A third album is scheduled for March 2025 on Audiogram.
