Third Eye Blind
Formed in San Francisco in 1993 around Stephan Jenkins, Third Eye Blind took shape after several musician changes before stabilizing early on with Kevin Cadogan, Arion Salazar and Brad Hargreaves. The band is part of 1990s American alternative rock, with a sound that blends pop rock, power pop, post-grunge and touches of pop-punk: tense guitars, direct melodies and lyrics about addiction, relationships and disenchantment. After signing with Elektra in 1996, Third Eye Blind emerged at the end of the decade with Third Eye Blind (1997) and Blue (1999). The years that followed were marked by numerous lineup changes but also by continuous live activity across North American rock circuits — from major tours to festivals — while Out of the Vein (2003) and Ursa Major (2009) were released. Since the 2010s, Third Eye Blind has centered primarily on Jenkins and Hargreaves, joined by musicians such as Kryz Reid, Alex LeCavalier and Colin Creev, and the band has returned to a more regular release schedule, from Dopamine (2015) to Screamer (2019) and Our Bande Apart (2021).
