Namasenda
Born in Sweden to Ugandan parents, Naomi Namasenda, who releases music as Namasenda, has built a career between Stockholm and Los Angeles at the intersection of electronic pop, club music and hyperpop, characterized by direct vocals and highly digitalized productions. She trained at the Musicians Institute after receiving a vocal scholarship from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in 2012. Namasenda then returned to Sweden and began her discography with the single “Here” in 2016, produced with BFOTY, followed by the EP Hot_Babe_93 in 2017. In 2019 she signed to PC Music, becoming the label’s first Black artist, and released “24/7”; in 2020 she followed with “Dare (AM)” and “Dare (PM)”—two tracks associated with A. G. Cook—and later “Wanted”. Her 2021 mixtape Unlimited Ammo further defined her approach: jittery, fast-paced pop heavily influenced by internet aesthetics and club rhythms, with occasional collaborations such as La Zowi, Mowalola and Joey LaBeija. In 2022 came Unlimited Ammo: Infinity (Remix), and in 2023 Namasenda opened a new chapter with the EP Ambrosia on the Swedish label Year0001.
