DJ_Dave

Situated within the American live coding and algorave scene, DJ_Dave has been developing a project since 2019 at the intersection of experimental electropop, club music and musical research. A producer, DJ and researcher, DJ_Dave composes and transforms her tracks in real time with code, employing a writing style that mixes pop structures, processed vocals, synthetic textures and dance rhythms that are often minimal or fractured. Her career has been shaped both in artistic settings and academic contexts: DJ_Dave has performed at the Whitney Museum, at the Met Gala afterparty organized by Grimes, and has toured alongside JPEGMAFIA and Hannah Diamond, while also opening for Shygirl and SBTRKT. She has produced remixes for Channel Tres and Uffie. In 2024 she led the Always Learning Tour at several computer science departments on the U.S. East Coast and published her first scholarly article on live coding in pop, extending a practice in which performance, composition and reflection on the uses of code advance together.
